Hello!
Following on from my last two posts I'm still having trouble with my mindset and wanting to overeat. Technically I haven't - but around the weekend I had a bad few days with my fatigue and, rather than naturally eating less because I'd been asleep for 12-16 hours of the day, I'd take full advantage of the leftover points with extra snacks. Generally I'm feeling a bit heavy and blegh. On the bright side I have my first therapy appointment tomorrow which I'm hoping will breathe some life into me!
Hot, sugary cups of tea are one of my big comforts that I like to enjoy if I've been good and have the points to spare, and I've found a better way to enjoy them. In the cupboard we have a couple of little teacups which are half the size of a mug. The calories saved aren't massive but I feel better mentally to be treating myself in moderation :-)
Aaaaaand, I've tried Tesco grocery delivery and had a really great experience with them! After Asda being an absolute joke and messing up a third of my last order, Tesco were brilliant. Only one substitution and it was a really well-chosen one. So my kitchen is now stocked with lovely healthy meals!

Week 5 Weigh-In
I have lost 1lb this week! This means I have lost 11lb in total.
At first I was disappointed, and hoped the scales would change over the day - but I am a very definite 14st 4lb. It may be because I've been feeling quite hormonal this week; I've already blogged about my urges to overeat and, while I really haven't, the hormones causing it might still be keeping my weight on.
But I'm not disappointed anymore! I've realised that, even if I only lose 1lb a week, that's 4lb a month and over 40lb by the end of the year. This means that, by this next New Year, I could potentially be a healthy weight. Here's hoping!

Week 5, Day 6
I can't believe I've been dieting for over a month and have lost 10lb! But I have been struggling for the past couple of days, which is why I'm writing a post tonight. Fortunately it's not a giving-up-and-ordering-a-huge-pizza struggle, rather that I've been feeling like I want a few more points over my daily allowance (and I did go a point over on Tuesday). If anything I'm used to having a couple of points left over each day, so it's bothering me. I don't know if it's a hormonal issue or if I'm just feeling a little greedy!
On the positive side I've looked up some numbers online and, in theory, I could eat up to 2110 calories per day and not gain weight. Since my points allowance equals about 1320 calories per day it would take a lot of extra WeightWatchers cake slices for things to go completely wrong! So if I have a bad day, the most important thing will be to keep counting points and stick to low-calorie "cheats" rather than just giving up and going on a binge. That way, the worst that will happen is that my weight loss will slow down for the week.
On the negative side, of course, I'm worried that if I give myself some leeway I'll get lazy and want to go over my points allowance every day. I am so bad with self-moderation and need the structure of a daily limit! So I do hope my appetite settles down soon.

Week 4 Weigh-In
This week I have lost 2lb!
This is a landmark week as it means I have lost 10lb in total, halfway towards my goal of no longer being obese. I was a bit worried as I'd sneakily weighed myself during the week and the scales didn't seem to be moving, but I got there in the end :-)
Now the initial weeks of weight loss have gone I'll realistically be expecting to lose 1-2lb a week. If I don't manage that then I'll look at my calorie intake and try to tweak it.
I've also been trying to do a little exercise, but unfortunately due to my fatigue issues I'm not managing anything that would really make a difference. Being as inactive as I am will probably hamper my weight loss. On the bright side, I have a first appointment for therapy in a couple of weeks' time so that may help me learn to do more! Wish me luck.

Week 3 Weigh-In
I have weighed myself and I've lost 3lb!
This brings my current weight loss to 8lb in total, over half a stone and 40% towards my goal of no longer being clinically obese. I am beyond happy. This success and the little changes like my coat fitting better do a lot to keep me motivated.
My biggest challenge so far has been craving takeaways, especially pizza. Before my diet I might have eaten two a week - and with minimum order amounts they would always be large portions with plenty of leftovers for the next day. Last night I got as far as logging into the Domino's Pizza website and checking out the nutritional info for an order (a personal pizza and side dish would take up an entire day's points allowance, incidentally). I did resist and instead ate a WeightWatchers meal that included a creamy sauce and carbohydrates, which got rid of the craving very well.
When you're desperate for a takeaway it's easy to try and minimise it and say, "It's only once, what the hell..."... but in the real world that takeaway would have undermined all my positive changes, put me at increased risk of another gallstone attack, and worried my parents. My last attack landed me in hospital for 6 days; both my gallbladder and liver were inflamed as the gallstone was stuck. My liver functions were declining day on day, I became jaundiced and I needed IV antibiotics. I'm glad I didn't order a pizza last night!
This is what obesity and a high-fat diet led me to!
So, I'm going to try and stay motivated and keep losing weight! Wish me luck!
